(obit for John, Harriet and more - I have to say the photo of Harriet doesn't surprise me much - but I thought the photo of Caroline was pretty startling, since it claims she was 19 at the time!)

It seems that her father, John Vipond Woodhouse, arrived in the U.S. in 1852, aged 15, with his mother and stepfather. (His father, Thomas Dickinson Woodhouse, likely married at age 20 - and died at age 27, which would make his son only 5 at the time. His wife was 23 when they married.)

John married at age 20 as well - his wife, Harriet, would have been 17! (Or 18, since it's not clear whether she was born in 1829 or 1830.)

(photo of John and the dates of all his children)

And Caroline was also the inspiration for "character of Ann Hawkins in the (Brink) novel Buffalo Coat"!

Obit for her mother:

Sadly, Caroline's older sister, Clara, died at age 19 of typhoid, in Missouri.

This has a picture of Caroline as a small child:

And it seems that all(?) of the boys grew up to be machinists!

More about John's parents:

One thing is startling - according to the 2013 entry, John was born in 1827, but THIS entry says his parents were married in...1832.
