She's written more than 50 books, including those nonfiction books for older children that she co-wrote.

She lived in London for years, so many of her books were published there.

(booklist and long article about her work)

Excerpt:

"The Big Red Bus and The Little Train find Hindley focusing on vehicles rather than animals. In The Big Red Bus the trusty bus gets one of its wheels stuck in a deep pothole. Soon, a line of cars is stopped behind the bus, until a tractor helps the bus out of its predicament and a truck and steamroller repair the pothole."

About her most popular book for older children, Time Traveler, which she co-wrote:

"A one-volume edition of four time-travelling accounts which shed light on the life of typical families in ancient Egypt, Rome, medieval times and during the age of the Vikings. With full colour illustrations."

There are lots of read-alouds on YouTube. Plus this short video on Vimeo, in which she talks about The Know How Book of Spycraft - which sold in multiple languages.

And...wow! She didn't mention this in the video, but someone else did.

(includes several pictures from the book)

"...Believe it or not, The KnowHow Book of Spycraft was entered and referred to as evidence at the high court trial of Soviet spy Oleg Gordievsky in London (in 1993), who testified that this book gave away the KGB's tradecraft.

"It simply makes my job of recommending the book superfluous.

"Read the transcript from the trial - I still cannot believe it.

"The best children's book review ever - straight from the Old Bailey, the central criminal court of England and Wales..."
