Not to be confused with Leonard Weisgard, who illustrated the original
1947 edition of Margaret Wise Brown's book.
Born in Buenos Aires, she lived in NYC, White Plains (NY), Paris, and now lives in Switzerland (maybe the canton of Vaud).
However, there seems to be confusion as to whether her birthday is on 4/12 or on 12/4. But, a November 2017 interview in Clarin said she was already 86 by then. (Unless that was an exaggeration.)
