According to one source, his birthday is somewhere between Jan. 1st and
March 31st. He lives in Suffolk - I hope.
He began illustrating books in 1980 (books by Ahlberg). He illustrated
13 books, from 1984 to 1985, authored by the team of Richard Hales and
Nicky Hales. In 1986, he illustrated 7 books by Naomi Thornton, and later,
8 more by other authors, including Douglas Hill, Pat Amstutz, Rose Impey
and Tony Bradman. (From 1997 through 2008, he only worked on Ahlberg's
books, from what I can see.) Another book was "The Pied Piper of Hamelin."
The grand total is now at least 60 books.

...Following his training in art and design at Brighton, Amstutz served in
the Army in the final phases of the Second World War. He then worked for
the Musical Paintbox animation team under Henry Stringer at GB Animation
in Cookham, Berkshire. The Musical Paintbox series of short films
(1948-50) combined animation, artwork, music and narration and was centered
on British history and culture and themed around different geographical
locations such as "The Thames", "Wales", "Somerset" and "Sketches of
Scotland", an idea conceived by David Hands, who had gained financial
support for GB Animation from J Arthur Rank on the strength of having
worked previously for Disney on Bambi and Snow White...
